Traditional ceramics and ceramics with raw materials for kaolin, quartz, feldspar, and clay have been made and characterized to determine the effect of grain size on dry shrinkage, bum losses, hardness, compressive strength and elemental and ceramic grain size analysis. The raw materials was mashed, sieved with a size of 100 mesh, 150 mesh, 200 mesh, and 300 mesh, then made a comparison of the composition of kaolin: quartz: feldspar: clay was 20: 30: 30: 20 wt%, plus water 10% of the total weight of the mixture of ingredients raw, then printed with the die press method at a pressured of 5 tons for 10 minutes. Samples were burned in a furnace at 1000°C for 5 hours. Dry shrinkage, bum shrinkage, hardness and compressive strength of ceramics tend to increase linearly for each decrease in grain boundary for raw materials. The content of ceramic elements has the element Carbon, C = 3.20%; Oxygen, O = 50.86%; Sodium = 1.58%; Aluminum, Al = 12.07%; Silicon = 29.43%; Potassium = 1.36%; Iron 1.50%.From the microstructure of ceramics it can be analyzed evenly distributed grain sizes and the average grain diameter of ceramics = 3.199 μm.
