The WHO Plan of Action for Workers Health(2015-2025)is focused on the gaps between and withincountries in the exposure of workers and local communities to occupational hazards and in their access tooccupational health services.Improving the health of workers,industry and communities can be achievedthrough well-coordinated public-private partnerships,with government leadership and with substantialparticipation of workers and employers.The Occupational Health activities of multinational corporationsthat focus on the advancement of Community Health are inherently beneficial by bringing reliable energyfor development and safety,raising standards for overall health and health care services and creatingemployment opportunities.Health Corporate Responsibility(CR)provides the essential framework for the linkage betweenOccupational Health and Community Health.Health CR includes Workforce Health,Health SocialInvestment and Health Citizenship.Workforce Health activities help to ensure a healthy,safe and productiveworkforce and work environment,while establishing standards of health practice and case.Health SocialInvestment is made up of voluntary contributions to communities to create benefits and build relationships.Health Citizenship is leadership participation that strategically demonstrates the company's corporateresponsibility for health.Underpinning each of these three areas are the internal and external partnerships,the evaluation of data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and interventions,and theinterface of the needs of the business and the needs of the community.In this paper,two public-private partnerships will be presented to demonstrate the concept of HealthSocial Investment.These will provide key insights into the linkages between Occupational Health andCommunity Health and will highlight how Chevron has partnered with public entities and governmentsto raise the standards for overall health and health care services to deliver community health programs inAngola(Sickle Cell Initiative)and in Colombia(Healthcare Access,Healthcare Training and Maternal-Child Health Programs).A description of each program and the positive impacts and results on thecommunities for each program will be presented.
