Beneficial Use of Landfill Gas: Opportunities and Challenges

Malik Tahiyatis currently enrolled as a PhD student at the University of South Carolina in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Malik previously completed my Masters from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Chemical Engineering with concentration on process control. Malik's primary research interest is nonequilibrium plasma physics in the areas of modeling and studying the fundamentals of DC discharges and in developing applications of plasma to address real world problems. Malik's current work involves studying the fundamentals of dc discharge in water vapor and developing a DBD application for treatment of biological elements. Tony Widboom is a Vice President /Senior Environmental Engineer with Barr Engineering Company, currently located in the San Diego. His expertise lies in air and water quality, permitting and compliance, particularly federal and state new Source review. Tony has worked with a variety of industries, including petroleum refineries, ethanol production facilities, sugar beet processing, chemical manufacturing, food processing, ferrous mining and power plants. He joined Barr with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
