This paper proposes an interleaved-type isolated AC/DC converter adapted for a wide input voltage range. In the conventional boost power factor correction (PFC) -type isolated AC/DC converter, separate capacitors are required for smoothing the grid voltage ripple and output voltage of the high-frequency isolation transformer. In addition, a large boost inductor is required to obtain a high boost ratio in the boost chopper, which makes the system large. The proposed system consists of a single-phase diode rectifier and a high-frequency isolation converter. In the proposed system, the capacitor used for smoothing the grid voltage ripple is common to the capacitor used for smoothing the output voltage of the high-frequency isolation converter. The proposed system consists of an interleaved boost chopper that reduces the volume of the inductor. A comparison of designs with aligned inductor losses per inductor surface area shows that the proposed system reduces the volume of the inductor by 39.2% compared to the conventional system. The experimental results show the basic operation of the proposed system over a wide input voltage range and the analysis of each part losses.
