By providing security and availability for information at the same time, secure multi-party computation (SMPC) has great prospects in cloud computing and mobile computing. Garbled circuits are the earliest solution to achieve SMPC as well as one of the most widely used solutions. Improving the performance of all aspects of garbled circuits and promoting the practical application of SMPC have always been the focus of researchers. This article introduces the research progress and achievement of garbled circuits. By focusing on three aspects of computation, communication and security, we take a deep analysis of the main technology of garbled circuits, which have optimized and improved the performance to varying degrees.
