An Energy-Efficient Clustering Algorithm Based on Residual Energy for Wireless Sensor Network

In recent years, the realized technological advances have enabled the development of a new generation of telecom networks. The latter, has important challenges and provide access to attractive areas of research: Wireless Sensors Networks. A WSN is composed of nodes responsible for the supervision of a physical phenomenon and transmission of results to the sink. Energy savings, results in extending the life of the network, which present great challenges. To respond to this, clustering techniques are used. In this paper, we develop and analyze a method of hierarchical clustering based on spectral classification: a Identifier-Energy Cluster Algorithm (IECA) considering both the identifier and residual energy of nodes, which aims at optimizing the life of the network. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm effectively increases the lifetime of the network and presents an energy distribution more effective compared to those existing in the literature.
