Device-to-device (D2D) communication is a promising technique for traffic offloading in next-generation cellular network. In D2D communication in cellular networks, the User Equipment (UE) directly communicate to another device with partial involvement of base station (BS). However, the UE could not be close enough for communication. Then, the UE communicates with other devices in relay utilization. Thus, the network assisted multi-hop D2D communication is considered, the energy and spectra can be increased by utilizing proximity service, hop gain and reuse of frequency in wireless communications. In this work, we propose the relay assistance technique which utilizes the cell edge UE. The objective of the proposed technique is improving system throughput. Simulation results validate that the performance of the proposed technique provides the higher throughput of the system than other methods. Moreover, the proposed technique effects to the number of UE in the system.
