In this study thermally upgraded kraft paper was degraded in insulating oil in accelerated conditions, at different temperatures. In our aging method the paper was heated from 100 to 400 °C but the mineral insulating oil temperature was maintained below to 60 °C, to avoid oil aging. Dissolved gases were analyzed (DGA) and other cellulose thermal byproducts that result from the process were also determined in order to build a new tool to help diagnose incipient thermal faults involving insulating paper.
