摘要

The peripheral veins of the forearm are widely used for medical conditions such as requiring blood draw, drug and fluid administration. Biological tissues of the forearm have different electro-physical properties. The electrical resistivity of venous blood is lower than the surrounding tissues, which makes it possible to detect veins using electrical impedance method. However, the influence of the inhomogeneiry of electro-physical properties of the surrounding soft tissues to the measured impedance values is comparable with the change due to blood vessel depth location, which decreases the accuracy of electrical impedance method of peripheral veins detection. In this study, we proposed the use of venous occlusion simultaneously with electrical impedance measurement to achieve better accuracy of vein projection on skin surface.
