In the present work interactions between magnetite nanoparticles stabilized by trisodium citrate with anticancer drug doxorubicin were investigated. Quantitative estimation of the complex stability was carried out by analyzing the thermodynamic binding parameters, in particular, the drug-nanoparticle binding constant value. The Langmuir model of equilibrium binding was used for the spectrophotometric titration data processing in order to calculate the doxorubicin-magnetite nanoparticles binding constants. It is shown that the positively charged molecule of doxorubicin can bind to the negatively charged surface of citrate-stabilized nanoparticles through electrostatic interactions which is promising for such particles to act as carriers for effective magnetic drug targeting.
