Prism-Like Effect of Nanotubes and Nanowires Made of Noble Metals

The scattering of the H-polarized plane electromagnetic wave by circular gold and silver nanotubes and nanowires with concentric dielectric covers in the visible range of the wavelengths is studied. In each case, the mathematical model is based on the Maxwell equations in the polar coordinates, and the analytical solution of the wave-scattering problem is obtained by the separation of variables. In computations, the complex permittivity of gold or silver is taken from the published experimental data. Unlike previous studies, the focus is on the "prism-like" effect: it is demonstrated that these nanoobjects can scatter specific wavelength bands at different angles.
