Synthetic studies on aculeine B,a peptide-polyamine hybridmarine toxin

Aculeine B (ACU-B) is a peptide-polyamine conjugate isolated from amarine sponge collected in Iriomote,Okinawa,Japan.ACU-B is toxic tocultured cancer cells,and it has beensuggested that the toxicity is based onspecific interactions between the longchainpolyamine moiety and cell surface molecules.Since ACU-B may be of use for development of a new anticancer drug,and/ordelivery of drugs into cells,we have startedfunctional analyses of ACU-B based on synthetic organic chemistry.Herein we report ourefforts toward total synthesis of pACU-B,which is the N-terminal partial structure of ACU-B.
