The Mannich reaction is known as one of the fundamental reactions in organicsynthesis.It is also one of the most powerful reactions for C-N and C-C bond formations.Moreover,as a useful synthetic strategy for constructing of nitrogen-containing molecules,the Mannich reactions have also been applicated as a key step in the total synthesis ofnatural products.1 As is well known,compounds containing the maleimide skeleton havebeen utilized as pharmaceuticals,organic dyes,fluorescent materials,polymer materials,and so on.Because of their potential applications,the synthesis of maleimide derivatives ishighly desired.Recently,-aminomaleimides using as a nucleophile in organic synthesishave attracted attention for the reason that a valuable maleimide moiety can be introducedto the products directly.However,the reaction of α-aminomaleimides are still very few.2And,to date,Mannich-type reaction of α-aminomaleimides has not been researched yet.Therefore,further investigations of using α-aminomaleimides as nucleophiles are necessary.
