In natural biological systems,assembly of biomacromolecules is a ubiquitous process oforganizing supramolecular architectures to generate complex functionality.For the engineeringof assembly,various artificial scaffold based on natural protein has been designed anddemonstrated in the living system.As an alternative way,we envisioned to exploit a selfassemblingpeptide tag,de novo designed peptide,to form an utterly artificial scaffold (Fig.1).Previously we have developed an amphiphilic Y9 peptide (YEYKYEYKY) that self-assemblesinto nanofibers in aqueous solution [1].Herein Yn peptides composed of YEYK repeating unitswere used as candidate peptides.
