Bacterial extracellular electron transfer (EET),electron transport between bacteria andelectrodes,is a critical process for emerging environmental technologies,e.g.microbial fuelcells.In order to accelerate EET,molecular mechanisms of EET have been investigatedwith a pure culture of single bacterial strain 1.Given that microbial fuel cells typicallyutilize complex bacterial consortia containing a variety of bacterial species 2,inter-speciesinteraction on electrode may critically contribute to EET kinetics.However,molecular-levelinformation about inter-species interaction is strictly limited.
