On extending the idea of dynamic symmetries first proposed by Dothan, Gell-Mann and Ne'eman to the spatial degrees of freedom of hadrons, F. Iachello conceived a new way to investigate the hadron spectroscopy. This method led to study the properties of meson and baryon resonances in terms of the U(4) and U(7) models, and also to develop an 0(7) model and an analytic version of the hypercentral Constituent Quark Model.
