In this work, experiments are conducted to study the thermo-hydrodynamics of single water droplet impingement onto a heated aluminium ratchet surface. Water droplet behavior at temperature above the Leidenfrost point is examined to elucidate the physics of bouncing droplets. Further the effect of Weber number and ratchet teeth dimensions on the droplet dynamics and fragmentation are visualized using high speed photographic technique. It is observed that, the droplet break up and bouncing are significantly influenced by the surface superheat and impact Weber number.
