The use of a compensative or other method to reduce the level of the side lobs of the phased antenna array pattern in the lower hemisphere of an aviation weather navigation radar is a way to solve the problem of parasitic reflections from the Earth's surface when solving the problems of forming a weather map on the indicator screen and direction finding of air point or group targets. The method has a number of side effects, including deformation of the forms of the total and difference antenna patterns, as well as the forms of the direction finding characteristic and its inverse function. The presence of inaccuracies and distortions in the formation of the amplitude-phase distribution of both the main and compensating antennas leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the compensation method, to additional distortions of the antenna characteristics. The work is devoted to estimating the impact of these inaccuracies and distortions of compensating antenna on the performance of the antenna array and developing accuracy requirements.
