The issues related to the influence of dynamic characteristics of a machine elastic system on the treated surface quality in turning are discussed. The results of the experimental studies carried out while cutting with a lathe accompanied by the imposition of vibrations of different levels on the cutting tool with the following spectral analysis of the surface profilograms are given. The regularities of the formation of surface waviness depending on the frequency of vibrations and the dynamic characteristics of an elastic system are given.
