A 10 cm~3 LED mini lidar system was developed and used in getting the physical features of the simulated twister in Nagoya Science Museum. Two measurement methods were done: steady and moving lidar mount. In the steady case, the temporal profile of the twister can be obtained. On the other hand, from the moving lidar mount, the distance-to-angle profile and its Cartesian coordinate representation can be derived to get the horizontal distance-to-path range profile. From these analyses, the size and structure of a section of the twister can be inferred.
