We presented the design of a microstrip patch antenna with low Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for WLAN applications. The antenna consists of a diagonally truncated patch and a ground plan, which were patterned on both sides of RO4003 substrate. The antenna provided, good impedance matching and radiation pattern with stable gain for the bandwidth of 5.1-6.06 GHz. Moreover, the antenna showed 88% reduction in SAR_(1g) and 75% in SAR_(10g) values without using any extra back reflector compared to the international SAR standards.
