Transverse single spin asymmetry (TSSA) for an inclusive process A~↑ + B→C + X is defined as,{formula} where dσ~↑ (dσ~↓) is the cross-section for scattering of a transversely polarised hadron A off an unpolarised hadron B, with the polarisation being upwards (downwards) w.r.t plane of production of C.
