19.1 Introduction The ICAL detector consists of alternate layers of 56 mm thick soft iron plates with 40 mm gaps housing Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) providing lateral position and fast timing information. Iron is the neutrino target material and is also an integral part of an electromagnet. Measuring the magnetic field seen by a passing muon in the iron plate is still an open problem. The Muon Spin Rotation (μSR) technique using stopped cosmic muons is one possibility of addressing this problem. Towards this end we have used the cosmic muon stack of 12 nos. of 1 m x 1 m glass RPCs at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.
