2,7-Diazapyrenes are nitrogen analogs to pyrene, in which two carbon atoms of pyrene are replaced with nitrogen atoms. 2,7-Diazapyrenes are expected to show the electron-deficient properties based on the high electronegativity of imine type nitrogen atoms. Consequently, they should be applicable for n-type semiconductors. However, the studies on diazapyrenes are quite limited because of the lack of efficient synthetic approaches. In this study, we have succeeded in the synthesis of 2,7-diazapyrene having pivaloxy and methoxy groups by reductive aromatization of naphthalene diimide[1] .
