Selective oxidation of carbon monoxide is one of the major methods for purification of hydrogen for fuel cell application. Platinum catalyst supported on mesoporous silica has been reported to show high activity and selectivity compared to Pt supported on normal silica1). In order to improve low temperature activity, Co3O4 was added to Pt supported on mesoporous silica and the effects of silica support structure on physicochemical and catalytic properties were investigated.
