Green sulfur bacteria (GB) are anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria, whose reaction center (RC) is considered as a homologue of photosystem I of the oxygenic photosynthesis. X-ray crystallographic and time-resolved spectroscopic studies on GB-RC have greatly advanced in recent years; however, they have not yet clarified detail of dynamics of the light-induced charge separation (CS) and electron transfer (ET) sequence.
