As a representative magnetic particle, magnetite (Fe3O4) particles have attracted considerable attention because Fe3O4 particles have been applied in many aspects, like microwave absorption, catalyst, hyperthermia therapy, and magnetic fluids. In fact, different applications require different magnetic properties, which are strongly influenced by the particle sizes and shapes. Besides, it is important for liquid-phase synthesis to obtain pure and homogeneous Fe3O4 particles, and to control the nucleation and growth of particles, thus synthesizing functional Fe3O4 particles with specific shapes.
