Defects such as low productivity and short service life of the mold occur in the isothermal molding process of aspheric lens. On the basis of these problems, a new method of non-isothermal molding was introduced and the fundamental principle of non-isothermal molding was carefully analyzed. Non-isothermal molding is formed at different temperature conditions between glass blank and mold. The deformation flow of the glass is accompanied by heat transfer. Thus, non-isothermal molding of aspheric lens was simulated by the thermo-mechanical coupling 3D finite element method. The internal temperature and stress field of the glass and mold were analyzed. And then the simulation results of isothermal and non-isothermal molding were compared. The results indicated that the non-isothermal molding process was feasible and superior.
