Power supplies are primarily used to provide needed output voltage by suitably controlling the pulse width modulated (PWM) signal given to the gate of the quick acting power electronics switches. Smart meter are put up in use in smart grid that is exposed to continuous fluctuations at the load and as well as the grid supply side, thus smart meter employed should have the power supplies having faster response to these fluctuations. This paper presents implementation of a power supply with top Switch as switch device. The designed device is determined to have a good output voltage regulation and better efficiency for the wide input voltage range.
