An omni-directional cavity backed antenna is proposed this paper. The antenna is used for space aerocraft, so the cavity backed antenna is "buried" in the platform to ensure the good fluid mechanics characters. A simple monopole is used here for good omni-direction radiation and to enlarge the radiation in the low elevation angle, a conical cavity is used. A dielectric filled gap between the conical cavity and platform is adopted here to reduce the platform effect and also the heat conduction to the antenna. The simulated and measured results are given, which show good performances of this antenna.
