MRI of Flow and the Lagrangian Description

There is much interest in functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) localization of cognitive processes. Their dependency on hemodynamics is among the issues concerning the experimental protocol and data analysis. Thus, assessment of flow effects on the images obtained by commercial instruments is useful. We show by some examples on water carrying vessels that their orientation under continuous flow conditions may be wrongly reconstructed in spin-echo images.
