High Isolation Design of a Two-Element Planar UWB-MIMO Monopole Antenna

Two-element ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) antennas are presented to obtain high isolation. The designed UWB-MIMO antennas are composed of two identical orthogonal antenna elements, and a defected ground structure with I-shaped slot and a pair of L-shaped stub are employed to get better isolation. Bandwidth of the proposed antennas range from 3.28 GHz-12 GHz. Also, the proposed antennas have isolations better than -18.6 dB. Moreover, an isolation of -20 dB is obtained within 3.73 GHz-10.26 GHz. The results show that the proposed UWB-MIMO antennas have wide bandwidth and high isolation performance.
