Taking into account the raw material resources driving forces, innovative architectured materials that can reduce material consumption while maintaining the same properties represent an interesting strategy for obtaining lightweight materials due to the risk of price instability for mineral and plastic materials. New approaches to obtain such materials at industrial scale and price are in progress.
