By combination of the width-partial physical model with the mathematical model, the sedimentation nearby hydraulic structures of a thermo-plant located on the lower Changjiang River is investigated. Based on the analyses of long-term observed data about fluvial processes along the reach on which hydraulic structures will be built and the results obtained by using the physical model, sediment deposition near to the hydraulic structures is predicted under different discharge ratios, sedimentation conditions, design schemes, and the degradation at the fore-edge of structures. An optimized design scheme is selected on the basis of research data.
