Acidophilus bacteria desulfurization column leaching was used to explore the effect of the desulfurization of metal sulfide ore and the feasibility of inhibiting the spontaneous combustion. The calculation method of desulfurization rate was discussed moreover. Uniform design was used in the experiment whose factors include initial pH value, the liquid arrangement intensity, and average particle size of ore. The regression analysis of desulfurization rates by liquid shows that the liquid arrangement intensity influences the desulfurization rate most, ore particle size followed, and pH the least. Liquid arrangement intensity and pH are positively correlated with the desulfurization rate, while ore particle size negatively. The result of SEM shows that the sulfur content of the ore surface is reduced from about 43% to 15% or less. The ore flammability is lower than before and the surface desulfurization rate is 65%.
