It is very important to study the portable ultrasonic leak detection method for the on-orbit space station and astronaut safety. To insure the method availability, analyzing the influence factors is necessary. The method research was based on the aero acoustic theory, and the leak acoustic source production, propagation and attenuation were analyzed. The mathematic module of leak acoustic with some influence factors was established. Furthermore, the effects of the detection distance, angle and horizontal offset were analyzed by the experiment for different leaks. The research conclusions indicate that the main influence factors of the method include the leak size, differential pressure, detection distance, detection angle and horizontal offset and others. The leak ultrasonic signal is declining as the detection distance and the horizontal offset increasing, and the best detection angle range is ±30°. These conclusions provide some references and advices for improving the portable ultrasonic leak detection method availability.
