Corona discharges are a type of electrostatic discharges, which radiation yields interferences in a large frequency band. It has been attested that an interference phenomenon observed by the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) on a ground station working in the VHF aeronautical band (118-137 MHz) is probably due to corona discharges. In this article, we propose and validate a source to model the radiation of corona discharges in the VHF aeronautical band. This source is then used to simulate the interference level induced on VHF antennas installed on a pylon. The results are compared with on-site measurements.
