Response of spar-mooring-riser system under random wave, current and wind loads

As a result of excessive consumption of oil and gas products in the twentieth century and the depletion of most of the hydrocarbon reservoir available on land, the attention has turned towards finding alternative sources of energy. One of the most important alternatives in recent decades is to exploit the hydrocarbon reservoir discovered under deep seas. Several types of floating structures have been developed and used in deep-water oil and gas production. The spar platform is the latest type which is designed and used in deep and ultra-deep waters. In this paper, stochastic analysis of spar-mooring-riser system has been conducted. Finite element analysis of the Spar-mooring-riser system simulated as a single fully coupled integrated model using ABAQUS/AQUA code was carried out to obtain the system responses under the long crested random wave with current and wind load inclusion. Surge, heave and pitch motion in addition to the maximum top tension of mooring lines and riser were obtained for steady state condition, as well as PSDFs for the same period were investigated.
