This paper reports an experimental study the influence of Algerian natural pozzolan of volcanic origin used as partial substitute for Portland cement on the mechanical properties and durability of high performance concretes. The analysis of experimental results on the concrete content of 5% of the natural pozzolan having a fineness modulus of 10000 cm~2/g in a sulfated medium allowed the reduction of pore volume contributing to the increase of mechanical strengths and the durability with respect to migration of chloride ions and oxygen permeability of concrete in sulfated environment. On the basis of the experiments performed, the natural pozzolan is suitable for formulation of high performance concretes and their properties are significantly better compared to the control concrete.
