The effect of an oil-displacing composition based on surfactants on the growth and oxidizing activity of the reservoir microflora of the high-viscous and high-paraffin oil from the Zuunbayan oil field is investigated. It is shown that the use of the oil-displacing composition stimulates an enhanced growth of microorganisms by 2-3 orders of magnitude and increases the activity of redox enzymes by a factor of 4-9. This is accompanied by a significant oxidation of all hydrocarbons (alkanes, cycloalkanes, and arenes) contained in the high-viscosity oil under study. It is established that in the course of oxidation, the intermediate products of hydrocarbon metabolism are accumulated. These products (acids, aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, and esters) have surface-active properties emulsifying the oil and promoting the decrease in interfacial tension in the 'oil-water-rock' system. Futher, this may results in an additional oil recovery due to the microbiological activity of reservoir microflora.
