The work presented here illustrates the impact that accurate reactor simulations can have on two different atypical nonproliferation analyses. Both antineutrino safeguards and isotopic analyses benefit from these types of simulations and the specific application to both has been outlined. Further experimental efforts are needed on the side of the applied antineutrino physics community and additional research will be conducted to evaluate connections between specific isotopes and additional reactor parameters Finally, an extensive look into the nuclear databases and subsequent fission yields measurements may be required. With these experimental and theoretical improvements, and the enhancement of nuclear databases, antineutrinos and isotopic analyses would become valuable tools in the safeguards toolbox.
