Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization system (WFGD) has an obvious trapping effect on flue gas particulate matters. In this paper, particulate sampling was conducted on a coal-fired power boiler equipped with WFGD. The size distributions, element composition and microstructure of particles before and after WFGD were tested. The results show that WFGD system had a significant removal effect on particles greater than 2 μm, but the effect was not obvious for particles that size below 2 μm. Compared with the entrance of WFGD, the element content of S and Mg in particles was significantly increased after WFGD, and element F was found in outlet particles. Particles from entrance are uniform spherical particles with smooth surface, while in outlet they are irregularly shaped particles formed with fine particles agglomerated with rough surface. The dust removal efficiency of WFGD system is 62.22% and the flue gas purified by WFGD meets the emission standard.
