A new algorithm for border noise removal

摘要

Border noise is a common phenomenon when scanning thick or skew documents. Border noise removal becomes important as it can erase this large dark margin and make segmentation or recognition easier. A new algorithm is proposed which can quickly remove border noises. Due to boundary tracing automaton and the filling algorithm, even border noises in complex patterns can be removed. Compared to the traditional seed filling method the presented algorithm is efficient and effective.
