Factor decomposition of energy-induced carbon emission and countermeasures in industry of Binhai New Area, China

Fossil energy consumption is the main source of carbon dioxide emission. It is important to the policy making that study on the energy-induced carbon emission in regional industry sector. A decomposition model of carbon emission is set up by adopting LMID method and adopted to analyze the influence of energy structure, energy efficiency and economic development to carbon emission in Tianjin Binhai New Area of China from 2008 to 2012. The results show that the pulling factors are energy structure and economic development, while the restraining factor is energy efficiency. After an in-depth causation analysis, several countermeasures are proposed to reduce regional carbon emission, such as establishing multiple-access financing mechanism, encouraging R&D on low carbon technology, enhancing the development of low carbon industry, participating in the international cooperation actively.
