Methods: 1002 breath samples were collected from 342 patients (including 99 with GC, 53 - peptic ulcer disease) for two different analyses. The first sample was analyzed with gas chromatography linked with mass spectrometry (GC-MS), while the second one with cross-reactive nanoarrays combined with pattern recognition method. 70% of the samples were randomly selected and used for the training set while the remaining 30% -for blind validation. Operative link on gastric intestinal metaplasia (OLGIM) assessment staging system was used to stratify the presence/absence and risk level of the premalignant lesions. Patients with OLGIM III-IV stages and dysplasia were considered high-risk PMLs.
