Designing Covalent Organic Frameworks as Highly Active Asymmetric Catalysts

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a class of crystalline porous polymers that enable the predesignable integration of building blocks into 2D or 3D periodicities. Together with their high porosity, COFs consisting of lightweight elements linked by covalent bonds have emerged as a new porous media for gas adsorption and storage. We have pioneered the design and synthesis of COFs, with an aim to establish COFs as a new molecular platform for exploring π-electronic and semiconducting functions. Here we report our recent efforts on developing catalytic COFs.
