Pilot Plant Test Study for HGO Hydro-Desulfurization Catalyst to Produce 10 ppm Sulfur

A pilot plant study was conducted for processing Heavy Gas Oil (HGO) with the latest deep hydro-desulfurization catalysts from different vendors. The objective was to check the feasibility to produce <10 ppm sulfur diesel processing HGO in Euwais Refinery (RR) Hydro-Desulfurization (HDS) Unit. The unit was earlier revamped to produce 500 ppm sulfur diesel processing a feed blend of HGO and LVGO. Due to the implementation of more stringent diesel sulfur specification of 10 ppm a pilot plant study was carried out in order to select the most suitable HDS catalyst available in the market to meet the specifications in the unit.
