Beyond Ka-Band: Leveraging Q/V Band to ensure the provision and future growth of broadband satellite communications - (PPT)

The telecommunication trend of offering end user with higher peak rate together with growing Internet penetration rates will increase demand for bandwidth resources. The challenge for future Satcom fixed broadband solution is to offer solutions that are competitive and/or complementary to terrestrial offerings. Therefore higher performances shall be offered at lower cost per capacity unit. Today's available Satcom technologies and spectrum availability would limit Satcom to meet user expectations by the 2020 time frame. This would call for innovation at system and product level, and exploitation of additional resources such as Q/V band spectrum to increase capacity.
