We employed GO as a starting material to up-down method synthesize both GOQDs and GQDs that have circular shape and diameter of less than 6 nm. A new facial chemical deep oxidation shearing method from graphene oxide (GO) sheets oxide from cutting with synthetic graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs), and graphene quantum dots (GQDs). The homogeneity in terms of size and shape is much improved, and the blue PL emitting GQDs and the green PL emitting GOQDs were obtained. Their optical properties were compared by means of PL, UV-vis absorbance, to understand the PL mechanism of the nano-sized graphene materials. Our proposed methodology allows the production of homogeneous photoluminescent GOQDs and GQDs with high yield and high reproducibility.
