New approaches to manufacturing the nanocrystallites (NCs) of metallic oxides are desired dueto their emerging applications in a wide range of high-technology applications. Recent work showed that metaloxide NCs could be synthesized by a new pathway: submerged photosynthesis of crystallites (SPSC), whichrequires only light and water and generates hydrogen gas as a byproduct.[1] These characteristics give rise to apotential application of SPSC as a green technology for energy, chemistry and nanotechnology. At present,flower-like NCs of zinc oxide and cupric oxide have been successfully synthesized using the SPSC method[1-4].In this work, SPSC method is applied for iron oxide nanoparticles synthesis and the photocatalytic activities ofthe obtained particles are studied.
